Haida Gwaii is an archipelago of 138 islands located approximately 80 miles off the coast of northern British Columbia - see map.

Flying
Air Canada (www.aircanada.ca) (1-888-247-2262) flies daily from Vancouver to Sandspit on Haida Gwaii. In the summer months they offer two flights a day. Eagle Cabs (1-250-559-4461 to make a reservation) provides an airport limo service from Sandspit to Queen Charlotte City for $25.00.

B.C. Ferries and Driving
BC Ferries (www.bcferries.bc.ca) (1-888-223-3779) offers approximately six sailings a week from Prince Rupert to Skidegate (a five minute drive from Queen Charlotte City). Also consider taking the scenic route. Travel by vehicle up Vancouver Island to Port Hardy. Take a BC Ferries vessel from Port Hardy up the “Inside Passage” to Prince Rupert on the north coast. It’s a great trip – relaxing, wonderful scenery, hopefully nice state rooms (if you can reserve one). From Prince Rupert take the ferry mentioned above to Skidegate. On the return leg consider going Skidegate to Prince Rupert and from there driving east on Highway 16 along the Skeena River and through the Bulkley Valley to Prince George and south to Vancouver. This circle route makes for a great trip through ‘Supernatural B.C.’

Speaking of which, call "Super Natural B.C." at 1-800-663-6000 and ask for both their “Gwaii Haanas Brochure” and the “Northern B.C. Travel Planner”. You may get additional information from the Queen Charlotte City Information Center (www.qcinfo.com) (1-250-559-8316). The Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve website is a great source of trip planning material. You can also call them at 1-250-559-8818 and request a “Gwaii Haanas Trip Planning” brochure (or download it off their website).

We can suggest several good alternatives for accommodations, help you with the logistics and planning of your trip and provide advice on getting the best deal on airfare. Give us a call at 1-888-559-8317.
